Founded in 1979 by Rob Kaplan in Hawaii, Dakine looks back on a long and successful history.
Unhappy with the existing and available products at the time, Rob designed a surf leash that reached new quality standards and was consequently able to meet the demands of the famous Hawaiian waves. This high quality requirement of the products also played a decisive role in naming the company - Da kine means "the best" in Hawaiian dialect.
In the years to come Dakine became a highly recognized accessories producer on the boardsport scene and has continually set new and exciting trends through innovative products and top-class designs.
